
Gertrude Bonnin, (February 22, 1876 - January 26, 1938) better known by her pen name Zitkala Sa was a Native American writer, editor, musician, teacher and political activist. By publishing her stories which revealed the Boarding School experience from the perspective of student and teacher in the Atlantic Monthly, Sa helped succeed in exposing the corruption and degradation of the boarding school system.
